Lisbon

The cloudy weather turned sunny and beautiful and everyone was out in the city. At least three cruise ships were docked so tourists were everywhere. We walked everywhere, enjoying the city sights. At 11.7 miles, it is not equal to most Camino walk days, but it’s a start.

The streetlight decoration attests the importance of Lisbon as a seagoing port.

cobblestones with tile pattern in Lisbon
Sidewalks are tiled with state-dictated patterns. They are beautiful to look at, but not very easy to navigate when you’re trying to pull your luggage along. Many stones/tiles are missing or need maintenance. Although we saw high-heeled women navigating the walk, I can’t imagine it!
dinner at a quiet Italian restaurant in Lisbon
Dinner was at a quiet Italian restaurant where Rodrigo, a Portuguese singer aspiring to live in Los Angeles, served us. Richard had osso bucco with saffron rice, and I had spaghetti con vognole (clams). Delicious!

The waterfront was full of folks enjoying a mild evening and the full moon.
