Lisbon to Sintra

Today we traveled from Lisbon to Sintra by train with the weekenders heading out of the city. Our accommodations here are far from the standard hotel: a 140-year-old home converted to 15 rooms on the side of the hill. Our tiny room is two floors below the reception area in the old wine cellar. As a bonus, we receive a gratis bottle of wine!

The Palacio Nacional de Sintra (Sintra National Palace) is in the historic downtown of Sintra. The conical towers, iconic to Sintra, are actually chimneys for the kitchens.
