Sunup from our balcony.
12th floor balcony Santa Cruz de Tenerife view of port and one of the swimming pool areas
The pool areas are much busier on Saturday morning. The tennis courts are popular as well.
Saturday morning sailing lessons near the port
Sailing exercises are going on in the harbor. Roberto explained that many children learn to sail here.
our front door view from the apartment
This is the view it the front door of our apartment. Richard said it could be Arizona.
Santa Cruz’s Auditorio Adán Martin
Santa Cruz’s Auditorio Adán Martin, opened in 2003, has a look somewhat like Sydney, Australia’s opera house. It was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava with a large arc supported in only two points while the tip appears to defy gravity.
The Castillo de San Juan
The Castillo de San Juan was the Spanish stronghold in the 1797 attack by the English under Admiral Nelson. It was not open for a visit.
The Castillo de San Juan
The Castle seems small compared to the importance for Tenerife’s independence.

Wanda Penner: Spanish and English history intersect. You have seen so much history on your trip. From our modern viewpoint, some of the history demands repair. Yet it is complicated, is it not. I am glad you are able to see and hear unique structures of Canary Island. 2022/10/30

Reply It is so interesting to hear the different viewpoints. Hearing the stories from Roberto who loves history and has a gift relating it has made the visit special. Tenerife is a special place (and the weather has been wonderful)! Yesterday we were able to visit the National Park with its volcano—the tallest mountain in Spain. Post coming! 22/10/31

Dan Hendry: Looks like a nice place to wrap up your trip! Dan 2022/10/30

Reply I understand why so many snowbirds from the British Isles come here and to the Costa del Sol on the mainland. There is so much to do that we could easily stay month(s). 2022/10/31

Ann Prazza: Looks so relaxing! 2022/10/31

Reply It was relaxing! We had a hard time leaving our balcony. No dinners out—always bread, cheese, and wine on the balcony. 2022/10/31
