Cesena and Republic of San Marino

After a morning tour of Cesena, we returned home to a fabulous lunch prepared by Maria.

After a short rest, we drove to visit the Republic of San Marino, about an hour away from Cesena, for a visit.

(L-r) Georgia, Barbara, and Elisa helped with a bit of shopping.
NOTE: Watch your sound on this video—it’s loud!!
Thank you, Daniele for this video!

We are intrigued by the automated parking allowing a car to be stored in an underground cylinder. When you drive up to park, you get a card for your vehicle that stores its location in the system. Moving the car is handled automatically. Upon your return to collect the car, insert the card and your car appears out of the depths automatically. It appears to be very popular in Cesena, and has been developed by a local company.
The old bridge over the Savio River. There were devastating floods in May 2023 that damaged or destroyed many homes and businesses near the river. Fortunately, our friends were on higher ground and were spared.
Five-month-old “Poo-poo” is a family star.
Beautiful San Marino. The Republic of San Marino is land-locked within Romagna on a high hill. There are three unique tower structures and many stores visited by tourists and locals alike for the tax-free advantages.
Georgia and Elisa enjoy a waffle.
Buona Sera to San Marino. The three main monuments are highlighted in violet.

Karen Magovern: Loved the car garage! 2023/10/14 at 5:53 am

Reply: I agree although I might be too skeptical to try it with my car. Things work very well here—elevators are always in service, people are out cleaning up, etc. so it appears that there is more emphasis on keeping the infrastructure going than we have in the US. 2023/10/14 at 5:53 am
