All Saints Day yields the usual problems for pilgrims—almost nothing is open. We were happy to find a lunch stop that sheltered us from the worst of the rain, but it was difficult to find an open restaurant for dinner.
Richard called a hotel restaurant that agreed to seat us for dinner. They turned away the locals in front of us saying the restaurant was only open for hotel guests, but we believe they took pity on us as pilgrims. We had a very enjoyable time eating next to Tina and Victor who we first met at the lunch location. They have a wonderful story: she is from Sweden and he was living in the US. They walked the Camino Frances, fell in love, and tried a long-distance romance but then Victor moved to Sweden. They eloped in Sweden, then honeymooned on the Camino and renewed vows on the beach in Finisterre with pilgrim celebrants.

Wanda Penner: What, you did not have sandwiches packed away? Yes, closed restaurants can be a challenge. You were fortunate to have been shown mercy. I am glad you are having both a good time and a challenging time. 2023/11/07 at 3:56 am
Reply: We sometimes have crackers but that doesn’t serve well as dinner after a full day of walking. We knew All Saints Day would be challenging, so we started scouting early for a place. At a small town on the top of the hill, dinner can be challenging. There was pizza, but we hoped for a bit more. As the saying goes, “the Camino delivers.” 2023/11/07 at 6:52 am
