Nashville Tourist Day

No travel today—just tourists.

The Hermitage—General Andrew Jackson, America’s 7th President—built onto his family home to entertain after the presidency. In the early 1800’s it was hours outside Nashville; now it is within the city.
The Parthenon in Centennial Park. The full-scale replica of Athens’ ancient temple was built for the Tennessee Centennial Celebration in 1897.
Inside the Parthenon, a statue of Athena was added in 1990 based on ancient writings of the statue in Athens that is no longer there. This replica is the largest indoor statue in the Western Hemisphere.
A view of the Cumberland River from the Seigenthaler Bridge (formerly the Shelby Street Bridge) showing the Titans Stadium and riverside art.
The Shelby Street Bridge was an engineering marvel in the early 1900’s. It has been replaced as roadways changed, but is retained as a pedestrian bridge.
A portion of the Shelby Street Bridge reflected in a riverfront business building.
At the commuter train station, there is a bus charger advertising a full charge in 10 minutes. Buses connect through the hood over the roadway that is powered by the green box to the right. We missed seeing it in service; however we were able to rent an electric car for about the same cost as a gas rental.
