The park by Llanberis borders Padarn Lake as well as Snowdonia National Park. The clouds are heavy today.
The Blade of Giants in the park commemorates the Princes of Gwynedd’s contribution to the area’s heritage and Welsh history. The design is based on the type of sword that would have been used by the Princes of Gwynedd dating from the thirteenth to fourteenth centuries.
Our first stop in nearby Beddgelert (in rain) was lunch at the Prince Llewelyn. Warm food was a necessity.
We’re heading out on a hike and see this carved dragon in the garden.
Tourism is the main employment in the area, but farming, especially hill farming Welsh Mountain Sheep, is also important for the local economy.
This is a sad local legend for the area, possibly contributing to the town’s name.
The rain is giving us a break so we head off for a short woodland hike.
The hike turned out to be more than we wanted as the rain returned. We decided to head back to the car and enjoy the scenery on the way back to the cottage.

Beautiful even in the rain! Love those landscape pictures.
The mountains are beautiful, but I would love to also see them in sunshine. It is really rugged country here.
There’s a lot to be said for clouds. Pristine as blue skies may be, it’s the clouds, the cumulo-nimbus and nimbus that give a certain character to rainy days and Sundays…best wishes you two
The clouds are beautiful, and I’m struck by how fast they move. The wind is my biggest surprise—it can practically knock me over.
Love when you get back to nature. Too bad it seems to always include rain clouds. This is such a varied experience of seeing the outdoors, villages and cities. Seems like something different every other day.

Simon loves history and researches areas for our visits. We do mix it up with different types of activities, and enjoy everything we do.
We were surprised to see such rugged mountains. Rain, rain, go away.
Richard was disappointed we never got to hike any Snowdonia mountains, but maybe another time!
