Paris

Richard did a wonderful job describing our day in his ReLive video. I have very little to add, other than my impressions about the need for planning. Here is Richard’s ReLive video: https://www.relive.com/view/vrqDXzKoQwq

5.27 miles, partly cloudy, temperature 65, humidity 63%.

We were in tourist areas and realized how many visitors Paris gets. Even sidewalks are crowded.

The natives are also out, but they move at a different pace. This is the Palace Gardens, but every nearly every chair was taken and people were talking quietly together, listening to headphones, or reading a book. How often would we see that? I doubt that many were tourists.

After getting neither the Opera tour nor late entrance into Musée d’Orsay, we’ve decided that we must begin planning ahead to go where we hope to go. Things book up early. This is the only part of our trip we have not fanatically booked, but it’s time to begin!

  1. Now you are back in some familiar territory for us. I hope you enjoy Paris. There is so much to see and so much to do, including many side trips like to Monet‘s Garden at Giverny and Montmartre. Don’t forget to eat some crepes! Oh! And of course, Notre Dame is a Must. Looks like you are seeing things up close and personal. Looks like fun! Dan and Wendy

    1. Notre Dame now requires a timed entry ticket that is only offered two days in advance. It is always sold out so we tried at midnight last night and it sold out in the first minute—no luck for us. I wonder if bots are at work again. We may try to see how long the line is, but it seems our chances of seeing the Cathedral are slimmer.
It looks like the weather for Giverny will be good—cross your fingers. It’s been in the low to mid 60’s most days often with cloudy conditions, but no rain for a while (knock on wood).

    1. We saw the Rodin garden on a previous trip so we probably won’t have time for a repeat. There are only two more days before we leave Paris. It’s been great but I know exactly what you mean about running—we’ve been busy. That’s what our vacations are for!
