Buching to Fussen

It was an exciting day of walking past the king’s castles on our last day of the trek with a Euro Hike.

8:43 am  to 4:03 pm. 11.94 miles, 31,765 steps, + 953 elevation.

Richard did a great job on the Relive video and I have very little to add. Click here to get the video: https://www.relive.cc/view/vMv8pLLyrNv

As we were coming closer to this pasture, a German bicyclist rode up and very excitedly tried to tell us we could not go that way. He was very definite but we had no real choice, so we plowed on. We suspect either he was not able to find the gate through the cow herd, or that there was a sign warning of a loose-roaming bull and he was afraid.
We had hoped to see friends Margaret and Hobart one more time in Fussen but it was not meant to be. Euro Hike booked us in two different hotels. Happy trails, friends!
Speaking of hotels, we were booked a bit farther from downtown and ona busy thoroughfare, but it was the first time since Washington DC that we had air conditioning! hurray! good sleep with windows closed!

  1. What a dilemma! Challenge a menacing looking bull or seek out a new route. I would be so stressed out by now! Don’t know how you two deal with all these challenges, closed train stations, vanishing trails, being poured on and finding transportation when needed. Again, you are amazing with how you deal with all these challenges. I would have enough angst just trying to decide what to order at each meal! Think you are both amazing!

    1. Neuschwanstein Castle is indeed dreamy from afar, but I prefer the Schwangau Castle for history. It has been so interesting learning about Ludwig and the dynastic history.

  2. Watch out for those cows or are they bulls? Looks like an adventure for sure. If this trek were an Olympic event, I am sure you would win a gold medal! Wendy

  3. Awesome!! Man what a killer last stretch of the day!! Castle looks amazing! Looking forward to lots of pictures! Oh and I can’t tell you how great it is to see you you both having such a good time.

  4. Finally, your time around the cows on the Leedey farm paid off. Good work. So you have finished one trail. What’s next? I am glad you got some air conditioning. I bet the temperatures will drop normally soon.

    1. Leedey did have cows, but my parents also raised cattle and my maternal grandmother always had a cow. As long as we’re staying away from cows with their calves, I figure we’re pretty safe.
