Our accommodation, Hotel Pallotta, was convenient to one of the town squares but up the hill just a bit and then up stairs to get to the door. People here are hardy souls for hauling their things. We were lucky that a family of teenage young ladies helped us get the bags upstairs.
Richard’s ReLive video shows some of our sites on the first day, but I also admired the treats in the windows. Umbria is known for its nuts, mushrooms, truffles, and specialty cookies. Yum!
The best part of the visit was having our good friends be close enough to drive over and meet us. Daniele brought his two beautiful daughters, Giorgia and Elisa — it has been two years (too long!) since we last saw the family. Next time we hope to see Barbara again too.

Long day of travel! But great stopping point. Assisi was one of our favorite fortress cities to visit when we stayed in nearby Montefalco. So glad you were able to see Daniele and her family after so long. Don’t know how you manage to navigate your transportation so easily. You guys are such pros!

It was not too bad to get to Assisi and so wonderful to see it again. Daniele (he) is a great friend for over 20 years but every time we get together, it’s wonderful. His girls are more beautiful every time we see them!
The sweets looked great!
It’s always great to look in the windows for the local specialties. Umbria has wonderful food.
